What is the Theory of Cooperative Behavior Adoption?
Cooperative dilemmas are common in conservation. What is best for the individual is different than what is best for the group. So then how can environmental leaders change these destructive behaviors?
Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment (BE.Center) released the Cooperative Behavior Adoption Guide to help practitioners design effective solutions to tackle these cooperative challenges. This resource provides step-by-step guidance that blends the latest behavioral science and design thinking to help you develop solutions to cooperative challenges. Specifically, it will:
- Introduce you to the Theory of Cooperative Behavior Adoption (TCBA) and Behavior-Centered Design (BCD)
- Help you assess whether your environmental challenge is a cooperative dilemma
- Guide you in developing your own behavior change intervention for each of the three phases of the TCBA
- Provide examples of successful past interventions
