Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment has a behavior change framework comprising six behavioral levers. Each lever represents a category of intervention strategies based on evidence-based principles and case studies from behavioral and social sciences.
The lever of “social influences” are especially powerful. Humans are social beings, and therefore our decisions are highly dependent on those around us. This includes our willingness to cooperate, conform, and change as a result of social pressure or following the lead of those we like or admire.
